Teachers Health reaches an agreement with Healthscope hospital group

Healthscope and Teachers Health reach new agreement

Earlier this year, Healthscope moved to terminate their contract with us (and 22 other not-for-profit health funds). Since then, the Australian Health Services Alliance (AHSA) has been negotiating on our behalf to secure terms that provide both quality of care and value to members.

We are very pleased that we have reached an in-principle agreement with the Healthscope hospital group, meaning Teachers Health, Nurses & Midwives Health and UniHealth members will remain fully covered at all 38 Healthscope hospitals around Australia, with no additional out of pocket expenses. Healthscope has revoked its Termination Notice of the existing agreement while we finalise terms of the amendment.

We know the recent uncertainty may have been concerning for those of you who stood to be impacted. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we worked towards this positive result.

Our steadfast commitment to our members meant we were able to agree on terms that will continue to provide both quality of care, and importantly, value and affordable healthcare for our members.

So what does this mean for members?

Teachers Health members will continue to be covered for treatment at all 38 Healthscope hospitals around Australia. In other words, Healthscope facilities will continue to be agreement hospitals.

At agreement hospitals you shouldn’t pay anything for your hospital accommodation other than the excess (if you have one). Exceptions could include certain high-cost medicines or non-medical things like TV, internet or phone use.
