Agreement hospitals
If you’ve already chosen a specialist for a service that’s covered on your hospital insurance, ask if they can, and will, treat you at one of the many private hospitals we have a contract with (known as agreement hospitals*).
If you’re treated at an agreement hospital, you shouldn’t pay anything for your hospital stay other than the excess (if you have one)^.

How to choose a specialist
Key info about specialists' costs and avoiding post-op bill shock.
*Our agreements ensure that an agreed schedule of fees (including inpatient accommodation, theatre and special unit accommodation fees as appropriate) is charged by the hospital and we pay the fees on your behalf.
Your benefit entitlements will depend on factors like your level and type of cover, whether you’ve served any relevant waiting periods and the financial status of your membership. We recommend calling us on 1300 344 000 to confirm your entitlement before you agree to hospital treatment.
If you choose a non-agreement hospital you may have out-of-pocket expenses for hospital-related services regardless of your level of cover.
^At an agreement hospital your insurance should cover most of the costs for covered services, but it’s important to ask the hospital about any additional expenses you may have. They could be related to your care, like high-cost medicines or robotic surgery. Or non-medical stuff like TV, internet or phone use.
