An emergency shouldn't cost you

If you find yourself in a medical emergency and need an ambulance to take you to hospital, money is the last thing you want to be worrying about.

Medicare doesn’t cover ambulance costs, so without the right cover you could be expected to pay these fees yourself.  It is only in limited circumstances that you may be entitled to free Emergency Ambulance options, which are covered when you’re a concession card holder, or a QLD or TAS resident.

Emergency Ambulance cover

All our Hospital and Extras products include Emergency Ambulance cover. If you don't want to take out Hospital or Extras cover, you can purchase Emergency Ambulance cover separately.

What’s covered:

  • Transport from the scene of an accident or medical event to a hospital
  • Treatment at the scene by a qualified ambulance officer
  • Air ambulance services*
  • Australia-wide coverage

What’s not covered:

  • Inter-hospital transfers
  • Transfers from a medical facility to a hospital and vice versa
