Can I use Australian health insurance overseas?
No – Australian health cover is only valid within Australia.
If your destination country has a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia, you may be able to access basic public health care by presenting your passport and Medicare card.
Even if this is available to you, you may want to consider travel insurance for longer trips based on your needs. See Nurses & Midwives Health Travel Insurance options
Locally-available overseas visitor health cover may be an option for longer stays in a single country that provides it.
